Dear Parents and Guardians:
Welcome back to another exciting year at CES! Beginning the first day of school, our food service company will be serving universal breakfast, which means all children will receive a free meal. Breakfast will be eaten in the classrooms beginning at 7:58-8:15am. We will continue full implementation of building-wide Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a research-based intervention program that improves student behavior, building safety, and academic achievement. Please read the following information carefully. We are looking forward to a successful year working together as a school-home partnership!
Arrival and Dismissal Plan for Capac Elementary
The PBIS committee, along with our staff, is excited to implement the following changes to our arrival and dismissal plan here at Capac Elementary School.
Parents, please drop your children off at the front of the building, under the overhang. For safety purposes, no parents will be allowed in the building at arrival time. On day one only, Kindergarten parents will be allowed in the building to walk their child to class and attend the "Coffee and Kleenex with the Principal" in the library.
Students will line up by grade outside of the front doors under the overhang.
The Safety Patrol students will walk each grade level to their destination to eat breakfast at 7:58am.
The Safety Patrol students will continue inside the classrooms with the students to participate and assist in the breakfast program.
Bus drivers will let Safety Patrol students off first, then K., 1st, and 2nd grades. Next, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
Students will line up by grade level and enter the building at a voice volume of "0" led by a member of our safety patrol.
Grades K-3 will be led to their classrooms where breakfast will be delivered.
Grades 4 & 5 will be led toward the cafeteria at which time breakfast eaters will go through the meal line to pick up their breakfast, and the non-eaters will proceed to their classroom with the safety patrol member leading the way.
There will be a tardy bell that rings at 8:05 a.m. Students will be tardy if late.
Teachers will drop students off to the following areas:
Bus riders: Cafeteria - They will line up behind the Safety Patrol students holding their bus number sign.
Walkers: Latchkey doors
Parent pickup: East gym doors (into the gym) and have students sit down by grade level. All students must be signed out by a responsible party listed on the emergency card.
The doors will remain locked. The parents will wait for their child to be dismissed by a staff member. The students will be dismissed to a parent one at a time.
No high/middle school students are allowed in the building. If they are picking up elementary students, they will wait outside the front doors or meet them on their bus.
If parents are picking up their child, they must park in the large parking lot on the south side of the Elementary Building and walk to the front door to pick them up.
