NWEA STUDENT ASSESSMENT TESTING
Capac Elementary School students will participate in a new online testing program starting on October 13th. NWEA is a tool to assess academic growth during the school year and align curriculum to meet student needs.
***2nd & 3rd Grades will test the week of 10/13 in the areas of ELA & Math.
*** 1st & 4th Grades will test the week of 10/20 in the areas of ELA & Math; 4th Grades will also test in Science.
***Kindergarten & 5th Grades will test the week of 10/27 in the areas of ELA & Math; 5th Grades will also test in Science.

New School Start/End Times for 2014-2015
This year all buildings at Capac Community Schools will be attending for the same amount of instructional time per day (6.2 hours). Please note that because of this change, some start/end times have changed.

Box Tops and Labels for Education
We have begun our first contest for this school year. It will run until Friday, October 24th, 2014. In order to insure proper credit, please make certain your child's name and teacher's name is clearly marked in or on the bag/envelope. The classroom that turns in the most points, will win cider and donuts, the second place classroom will win a bag of popcorn.
Great Start Readiness Program
We are accemting applications for the 2014-2015 school year!
The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is a state-funded preschool program available to the children residing within the Capac Area School District who will be 4 years of age on or before October 1, 2014 and are at risk of school failure by the state mandated risk factors. During the school year, this licensed program offers a full-day session Monday-Thursday.
Program availability is determined by slots awarded to the district on a yearly basis. Please contact the Elementary Office at 810-395-3636 if you would like an application sent to you or a printable version can be downloaded below.

Great Start - Early Childhood Website
There is a website for Great Start in our county. Visit www.greatstartstclair.org to see everything it has to offer from a community calendar, training opportunities, community resources, and so much more.
Great Start is a resource for families with children in our county as well as the providers that serve our families. The new website is one more opportunity to streamline services and make life a little easier on the parents and children we serve every day. Parents can go to this website to sign up for the Great Start newsletter. The monthly newsletter will give families and providers an update on what is happening through Great Start, in the community as well as much needed information and resources.
